Music Minister Search Committee
Report #4
August 31, 2009
The Music Ministry Search Committee continues to prayerfully seek the person we believe God is calling us to invite to fill the position of Minister of Music at Calvary Baptist Church.
This month, our committee has met each week and we have gone over dozens of resumes and spent several hours discussing candidates and their qualifications. We have received more than 50 resumes. We have reviewed information and watched video on more than twenty of these individuals, and we have visited with, observed, and interviewed five candidates in person.
A special prayer meeting was held this month by the committee as we asked for continued guidance and affirmation as we get closer to our decision concerning the person called to lead Calvary Baptist Church in this extremely important position. We all feel that God has been leading us.
We will present a candidate for your consideration on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at 5:15 p.m. during the Wednesday night supper time. This will be an opportunity for you to ask questions of the candidate and to visit with him and his family until 6:15 p.m. He will lead the choir in practice that evening from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. and he will be presented in view of a call to the church on Sunday, September 13, 2009 at all three services.
Please continue to pray for us and the church.
Respectfully,
The Music Minister Search Committee
John Merrill, Chairman
Rodney Truelove, Vice-Chairman

Music Minister Search Committee
Report #3
July 29, 2009
The Music Ministry Search Committee continues to prayfully search to find a Minister of Music who will be a perfect fit for this very important role on our church staff. This person must be someone who can help to focus our hearts and minds as we come to worship. This month has been focused on reviewing resumes and personally contacting and interviewing prospects who have submitted resumes and have expressed an interest in our church.
We have reviewed more than 40 resumes. We have been impressed by the number of excellent prospective candidates who are interested in consideration by our committee.
Our pastor has been involved in our process this month, as we strive to select the very best person that God leads to come to Calvary Baptist Church. We do feel we are getting closer to making this extremely important decision.
Please pray that God will continue to lead us as we continue our search to find the leader who will help Calvary Baptist Church grow and flourish in the years to come. Thank you for your input and we will continue to keep you informed of the progress.
Respectfully,
The Music Minister Search Committee

Music Minister Search Committee
Report #2
June 12, 2009
The Music Ministry Search Committee prayerfully began our work on May 6, 2009, at Calvary Baptist Church. Our charge is to find a music minister who will lead our church in worship for many years to come.
On May 18, we met with Keith Hibbs, from the music department of Alabama State Board of Missions, to discuss our position with him and to get his suggestions as we begin our search. With his help we developed a survey instrument to share with the church so as to determine the characteristics the church desires in a worship/music minister. We also interviewed each member of our ministerial staff on May 27th to get their input.
We presented the survey to the church on May 31st and posted it on the church website. We received 232 responses to our survey. After tallying the results and factoring in the suggestions from our ministerial staff, we have arrived at the following as base criteria for the individual the Lord is preparing to be our new minister of worship/music:
Thank you for your suggestions of prospects. Each one will be considered. We ask you to consider sharing names with us as they are revealed to you.
We thank you for your support. Please continue to lift us up in prayer. Please pray that God will lead us as we prayerfully seek the minister who will lead the lost to Christ, lead us in worship, and will help to move our church in the direction the Lord has prepared for us in the coming years.
Respectfully submitted:
